Supply Chain Transparency

Sustainability

At https://pdonia.shop, sustainability is at the core of our brand ethos. As one of the first Middle Eastern brands to commit to sustainability, ethical design, women empowerment and most importantly an active and healthy lifestyle, we make sure to tell stories that inspire people to stay conscious, active and expressive through our chapters. We believe that in this way we are agents of change.

We strive to do the least harm to the planet in everything we do. To achieve this, we have started measuring our impact in supply chain transparency, raw materials, fashion for all seasons, social advocacy and giving back.

Sustainable Raw Materials

It takes around 230,000 litres of water to produce one kilogram of cotton, which is equivalent to one t-shirt and one pair of jeans. That’s why we took the bold step of tracing our supply chain and started implementing sustainable fibers in our collections. Both Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified organic cotton and organic denim were recently incorporated into our supply chain. This helps us support farmers who work with nature, not against it. We ensure that all printing processes take place in GOTS certified manufacturing units. Our goal is to ensure that our printers and dye houses use the most environmentally friendly and ethical products and are certified to focus on responsible water, chemical and energy footprints. Therefore, we confirm that our material sourcing and material production have the least impact on the ecosystem.

Reuse Fabrics

Around 15% of garment fabrics end up in the tailoring room. This waste rate has long been tolerated by the industry. We reuse fabric leftovers to make headbands and other products to ensure zero waste. By using scraps from final garments and fittings, we continuously practice and strive to become a zero waste brand.

Deadstock

Every season, we try to find deadstock in the local community. Stock that has not been moved in the warehouse or used for home decoration and interior decoration. Later, we find innovative ways to incorporate these into our collections. The results often surprise and satisfy us very much.

Seasonless

Minimal Production

Every season has a story and keeping in mind the seasonless approach; we consciously create timeless, durable and forever loved pieces. We produce in small batches and only after receiving an order to minimize waste and excess inventory. We are constantly working to slow down consumption, not chase seasons, and sell products that have a longer life than ordinary clothing.

Circularity

Looking to the future, it is clear that today’s continuous fashion model has reached its limits and is no longer sustainable. The solution is to transition to a circular model and accelerate change across the industry; so that our clothes never become waste. At https://pdonia.shop, we are constantly seeking solutions and developing programs to encourage circular fashion.

Social Awareness

We source our textiles from local family-run shops, which are often hidden treasures with rich stocks of used textiles. In 2013, approximately 15 million tons of textile waste was generated, of which 12.8 million tons was discarded. We are very excited to breathe life into this textile stock that would otherwise have gone to landfill. In this way, we are not only supporting small marginalized shop owners to grow their businesses and give back to their local communities, but we are also helping to divert a significant portion of waste from landfill.
